A life without colors is just not imaginable! Color is at the very core of a vibrant and an inspiring life. From our attire to our houses to the food and even the packaging, color has become an integral aspect of our life. Providing a wide array of dyes and pigments that make our lives so colorful is a major task done by the manufacturers; acid dyes manufacturers, solvent dyes manufacturers, basic dyes manufacturers and many more are striving to bring out safe and stable colors.

The dye industry around the globe has undergone several reality checks before coming to stand where it is today. The movement for eco-friendly dyes and pigments for one began with increase in consumer awareness of the serious implications of certain chemical dyes. This led to a ban on use of azo dyes in major areas of the world.

A major shift of the industry to the East made India and China the new hubs of the dye and pigment manufacturing industry. The resulting increase in the manufacturing capacity has had to be utilized by the increased demand and occurrence of over capacity if any had to be handled well.

The battle between product quality and competitive pricing is an old one and achieving the desired mean very important.A greater emphasis on research and use of sophisticated technology to stay in tune with the global demands was placed by the major players in the field as they knew that top quality items with competitive pricing alone can sustain the fierce competition in the industry.

A need for greater government role was felt to support the industry to move to greater heights. The rules and regulations had to be supportive to the industry, encourage them in their path of growth and ensure that nothing but the best would come out from the manufacturing units. Financial support from government and associated organizations would help the industry to adopt evolved manufacturing technologies brought about through extensive research.

Some of the industries using dyes and pigments like pharmaceutical packaging and food industry are showing an increased demand for colors. However, consumer awareness for incorporation of high safety standards has brought the dyes and pigments used in this sector under the spotlight. Colors used in packaging of food and pharmaceutical products are being scrutinized in detail to prevent the likelihood of indirect migration of unwanted components into the food items under certain situations. Certain aspects like coating and adhesive formulations, package design, paperboard and recycled paper used are being paid more attention. With aqueous inks offering lesser migration into the packaging, there is a greater trend towards using these inks. The increased FDA regulations in this industry have ensured that more and more manufacturers comply with international regulations and standards.

All efforts are being directed towards producing top quality products that will earn the satisfaction of the consumer in every way.  Wider range of colors, pigments with special effects, metallic pigments and pigments which have wider applications and are stable with respect to viscosity and color are being made available in the packaging inks market.

The world of color is definitely getting brighter and more colorful!
