Colors and dyes make a world of difference to products by making them look colorful, glossy, and attractive enough to be purchased. If most of the products had been kept the way they were manufactured initially not many would have flown off the shelves. The color industry and its various methods are as variegated as the many shades available. What is amazing is the amount of care and caution taken to produce each shade. But then the method of applying is different, depending on the material that is being painted.
Leather, for instance, is durable and hardy and can absorb a lot of color. Raw leather has to be treated properly and the colors applied in a manner that makes it appealing without absorbing too much color. Leather objects are available in many shades, but primarily in black and brown. Off-beat leather dyes include green, yellow, blue, red and white. Various kinds of acid, vat and reactive dyes are available with the manufacturers to give a product the perfect look. Leather tends to react differently with dyes so tests have to be run to determine the reaction and the final shade that is found. The acid black variety is the most used for dying leather.
Herbal extracts are also equally useful for coloring leather goods. The shades are extracted from various plants and fruits and then processed to make lasting colors which can be used not just for dyeing leather but also on any kind of fabric as well as food. In case of the last two, natural colors are most in demand because they are extremely safe for usage.
Another kind of color that is used much in this industry and specifically for leather dyeing is pigment paste. These can be mixed with water and other solvents like lacquers, glues, enamels and many more. The best thing about the pastes is that they help in reducing the paint process by making the drying process easier and shorter. The paints can be made thicker or lighter according to the customers need and according to the product that is being painted for manufacture. Both inorganic and organicones are available with the producers and are used as per specifications. The pigment preparations and shades have to be adjusted according to the designs and needs of the customers.
Various kinds of pigment preparations can be used for dying leather. The colors are usually bright and extremely stable which makes it widely acceptable in all product markets. But they have to be grinded and mixed properly for usage. But since they take time to dry up water-based ones are used more for products so that drying time is comparatively less. The quality of the color and shade has to be maintained cautiously because most clients feel a difference of shade as a difference in quality which can be very trying for the company. Therefore quality control is extremely necessary in the paint industry for maintaining reputation.
