Types of Pigment used in Rubber Industry

Pigments are extremely important in several industries including the rubber industry because it helps in the development of characteristics features like strength and durability that improve the brand name and make it long-lasting. Carbon Black: This component finds use in different types of rubber industries and is derived from petroleum refinery process. When it comes to the production of higher resistance power, longevity, grip and abrasion there is no better pigment than Carbon black!

Silicon compounds:The rubber industry primarily uses bi-functional and organic silicon compounds which again have two reactive compounds. These are high-quality ones and make the rubber products extremely hard and effective. They are often combined with pigments of the sinaloan group to make them even more efficient.

Cadmium components: For minor usefulness cadmium comes very handy.

Organic pigments: The organic pigments are used in the coloring process in the rubber industry.

Florescent pigments: These pigments can be both organic and inorganic. Manufacturers select the colors depending on the property they want in the products manufactured by them. Some of the general requirements include resistance to migration and bleed, heat and light stability and the necessary shade of the products.

Molybdenum pigment: This particular pigment is responsible for light and heat as well as the bright shade of the colors like red to yellow and red to orange. The Molybdenum pigment finds use in the plastic, ceramic, ink and paint factory other than the rubber factory.

Titanium oxide:The oxide is used in the rubber manufacturing industry quite frequently because it imparts great qualities like size consistency of the particles, ultra-violet resistance, dispersability and size consistency of the particles.

Zinc Oxide:Zinc oxide has been used in the rubber industry for ages because of the reinforcement offered by it. It has chemical, optical, and physical properties that make the products what they are. For instance, the tyre manufacturing industry requires the manufactured products to be highly durable and strong. The zinc oxide present helps in heat conductivity and reinforcement because tyres generate a lot of heat when the vehicles gather speed. Proper conductivity of heat is important for preventing major accidents and damage to the vehicles. The chemical reactivity of the oxide is highly useful in the curing process of various kinds of synthetic and natural rubber.  It activates the organic accelerator of the process. Other properties of zinc oxide include  Latex Gelation, Light Stabilization, Hear Stabilization, Pigmentation, Reinforcement and Rubber – Metal Bonding. It offers a lot of stabilization in foam gelation. The oxide reacts with the oxide of copper and helps in the bonding between brass and rubber. The pigment is especially used in the rubber that is used for medical purposes like the manufacture of surgical gloves, rubber sheets, and the walls of tyres. White colored tyres and tinted rubbers make use of the pigment because they render extra stability to the products.
