Ortho Dianisidine (3,3'-Dimethoxybenzidine) is an important aromatic diamine intermediate used in the synthesis of Direct Dyes (such as Direct Black 22 and Direct Blue), Reactive Dyes, and Azo Pigments — most notably Pigment Orange 16 and certain diazo pigments. It is available in two forms: Ortho Dianisidine Base (free amine form) and Ortho Dianisidine DiHCl (dihydrochloride salt form, OD Di HCl), which is more stable and easier to handle.
