  • Pigment Dispersions

Pigment Dispersions are basically fine dispersions of Pigment in aqueous, solvent or universal system. At VOL, We have Pigment Dispersions in aqueous system. All our pigment Dispersions are azo free, formaldehyde free, Apeo free. They are also having a fine particle size suitable for very sensitive applications. Our Pigment Dispersions are as under.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Rubber and latex products can be coloured using both pigments and dyes. Organic pigment powders and dispersions are commonly used for solid rubber articles like tyres, seals, and footwear — they provide good colour stability and do not migrate. Acid Dyes, Basic Dyes, and Direct Dyes are used in latex dyeing, particularly for latex gloves, balloons, foam, and latex-coated textiles, where the dye penetrates into the rubber matrix. The colourant must be compatible with the vulcanisation process and stable under heat and mechanical stress.
Dyes and pigments used in rubber must have good migration fastness (no bleeding or surface blooming during processing or use), heat stability during vulcanisation (typically 140–200°C), resistance to extraction by oils, plasticisers, or solvents that may be present in the formulation, and lightfastness appropriate for the product's end use (especially for outdoor rubber products). For latex gloves and medical rubber, additional requirements include non-toxicity and compliance with relevant safety standards.
Many organic pigments suitable for plastics can also be used in rubber, provided they meet rubber-specific requirements such as stability during sulfur vulcanisation (which can react with certain pigment structures) and resistance to extraction. However, not all plastic-grade pigments are rubber-compatible — some may cause bloom or react with vulcanisation agents. It is important to use pigments specifically evaluated for rubber applications and to consult technical data sheets from the pigment supplier for guidance.
Latex products such as gloves, balloons, and latex foam are typically coloured using water-soluble dyes — primarily Acid Dyes and Basic Dyes — that can be added to the latex compound in the wet state before moulding or dipping. These dyes must be compatible with the ammonia-preserved natural or synthetic latex compound, must not coagulate the latex, and must be stable during the drying and vulcanisation process. Pigment dispersions are also used for opaque, bright colours in latex balloons and foam.
India supplies dyes and pigments to rubber manufacturers domestically and globally. Vipul Organics Ltd. is a leading dye and pigment manufacturer and supplier for the rubber and latex industry in India, offering organic pigment powders (SunTone®), pigment dispersions, Acid Dyes (SunAcid®), Basic Dyes (SunBasic®), and Direct Dyes — all evaluated for compatibility with rubber processing conditions. The company serves rubber product manufacturers including footwear, automotive seals, latex gloves, and foam manufacturers across India and internationally.
